Wow, it was so nice to get to sleep in until 6 o'clock this morning rather than having a 3 a.m. wake up call like we used to do back when we didn't have a direct flight. :) This is infinitely better and I'm sure the kids agree.
We arrived at the SW Airlines ticker counter just after 8 a.m. to be greeted by Greg and his team. Greg is almost always here when we check in for Youth Tour and he is always so nice to tell me what a great group we have and how much they appreciate how efficiently we get them through the process. It's a team effort - SW does an awesome job for us every year. We love them.
We sure missed our friend and former Youth Tourian (OEC YT 1974), J.B. Thomas, who is usually here to check us in but he is on vacation right now. I told him I'd send him the dates of next year's trip so he can plan around it. :) It's a team effort - SW does an awesome I'm happy to have found a good use for my "meticulous" qualities (as my husband calls them since he doesn't like the term I use (anal retentive)). LOL.
We got through the ticketing and baggage check in record time this morning and made it through security in a total of about 40 minutes! For 81 people, that was pretty amazing. We only had one boy nearly strip searched (well, okay... not quite) because of a knee brace but that was it. Everyone else breezed right through and we were sitting at the gate with over and hour to spare. That's when the games commenced... spoons in particular. One of the chaperones suggested we through some money out there for the picture but Spike Momma decided against it. :)

We've tried to convince the kids NOT to spend much of their money here at the airport since things cost about 46 times what they would cost anywhere else. They all had a good breakfast at the hotel and we've loaded them up with peanut-free snacks for the flight, too. Once we're boarded, we'll be on our way....

That trip is definitely memorable for the members as they have more quality time with each other and have more bonding moments to cherish. It’s a good thing that a lot were able to join. That adds up the fun and I’m pretty sure that no one got bored during the entire trip! I wish you guys the best of luck and more trips to come! =)
